Hands Around the Beehive is a National Day of Remembrance for Health.
On 21 October 2026, people from across Aotearoa will come together at Parliament to remember the people and communities who have been affected by the failures and pressures within our health system.
This is not a protest. It is a day of remembrance, reflection and coming together.
Event Details
1.15pm — Gather at Parliament Grounds
We gather together at Parliament Grounds to remember and acknowledge the people and communities affected by the challenges and failures of our health system.
1.30pm — Speakers (we will be updating this soon)
Speakers will share their experiences and reflections about the health system and the importance of building a healthier Aotearoa.
2pm — National Minute of Silence
We will join together for a National Minute of Silence to remember those who have been affected and to reflect on the health of our nation.
Hands Around the Beehive
People will then come together to form Hands Around the Beehive — standing together, holding hands and showing that health matters to every one of us.
We are also calling on communities across Aotearoa to join us in remembrance, including churches and faith communities who can mark the occasion by ringing bells nationally.
This is an invitation to remember, to stand together and to say that we can do better.
A healthy Aotearoa needs a health system that puts people, communities, dignity and wellbeing first.
